Ian Ritchie, director of Stuart Alexander, said insurers need to gettogether to ensure prices stay at a realistic level. "The difficulty I
have is that as a broker, one tries to support increases and not encourage
a soft market. Then you get some rogue broker who says 'I guarantee 15%
will be saved' and insurers give them a mandate to do so. Insurers have
got to get together and stop brokers from driving prices too low."
