Allianz Cornhill has withdrawn from the travel insurance market,making it the second major insurer to pull out of the sector in the past
three months.
The Allianz Cornhill book of travel business, which in 2000 was sold
through five major broker schemes with a gross written premium of £35m,
has been passed to sister company Mondial Assistance. This was due to
"inadequate margins" a spokesman for the insurer said.
He said that the travel book was being "slimmed down" and the only travel
