Home insurance premiums have risen for the third consecutive quarter, according to AA index.

Home insurance premiums have risen for the third consecutive quarter, according to the AA's latest benchmark British Insurance Premium Index for the three months ending 30 June.

The index showed that £2 have been added to the average shoparound quote for a typical combined buildings and contents policy. This is an increase of 1.4% to £158.48.

The AA noted that standalone policies had also risen, for buildings by 1.5% to £113.46 and for contents by 3.0% to £60.41.
