Chief executive facing spell on the sidelines after dramatic switch from Gallagher to Towergate.

Former Arthur J Gallagher International chief executive David Ross could be facing up to a year of gardening leave before being able to start at Towergate.

Ross' switch between the two broking consolidators was confirmed on Tuesday.

He has been appointed as CEO of Sierra Investment Holdings which was created by Highbridge Principal Strategies to invest in Towergate.

The announcement confirmed that Ross will become CEO of Towergate after a "transition period".
