Which? calls on government to tackle CMCs over PPI
Which? has written to the government urging it to clear up the claims process for people who were mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI) and to tackle exploitative claims management companies (CMCs).
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of State for Justice, Kenneth Clarke, and co-authored by MoneySavingExpert.com and the British Bankers' Association, the consumer champions called on the government to ensure that third party complaint handlers are properly regulated and bad practice surrounding PPI claims is stamped out.
Last month Which? teamed up with the MoneySavingExpert website to launch a campaign to cut CMCs out of the PPI compensation process.
