Fortis UK's non-life premium has grown 7% to £401.6m for the first six months of 2009

Fortis UK was set to form a separate operating disivion with the group as the insurer reported non-life premium has grown 7% to £401.6m for the first six months of 2009, compared to £375.3m for the same period last year.

Non-life profit before tax was down year on year to £31.7m (H1 2008: £43.2m) as a result of issues impacting the market including increased household claims resulting from the cold weather in the first quarter, increased personal injury motor claims and lower investment yields
