US insurer St Paul is to exit the UK medical malpractice market, onlytwo years after announcing its intention to take a dominant stake in the
sector.
The exit was announced in December as part of a substantial global
rationalisation programme that will also see the insurer scale back its
operations at Lloyd's, cease underwriting several lines of reinsurance,
and exit several countries to focus only on the UK, Canada and
Ireland.
