This year's British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) annual conference in Brighton included the usual round of conference sessions, stands and networking and a number of strong messages from chief executive Eric Galbraith.

In his opening speech he slammed the European Union's competition review describing it as both 'ill conceived' and 'poorly timed'. In addition, he warned brokers they could incur further expenses and impositions on their time.
