Good things come in small packages, according to the well known saying, but in the current competitive environment being small is not necessarily an advantage, as Liz Booth explains
With the advent of Financial Services Authority (FSA) regulation, some networks and alliances were formed on the premise that being small and on your own was just not going to work and the way to survive was to join a group of people in a similar position.
There were also arguments that being part of a group would give you more clout when dealing with insurers and other suppliers. So the latest survey from the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) on brokers' attitudes towards insurers
