Brokers adopt climate change initiatives

Following Aviva’s pledge to be the first major insurer worldwide to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040, Insurance Age looks into what this might mean for brokers, and how they plan to adapt their strategies to a more climate-aware business model.

A number of insurance companies have recently taken the plunge and committed to more environmentally friendly approaches as businesses around the world scramble to adapt their strategies and tackle the imminent climate emergency. 

In March 2021, Aviva announced its plan to become a net zero carbon emission company by 2040. This target is said to be the most demanding of any major insurance company in the world.

The announcement followed the Financial Conduct Authority’s development of climate
