Biba accountant jailed for fraud

Gurmukh Shehri was convicted of defrauding Biba of nearly £25,000 over three years.

A former accountant who admitted to stealing nearly £25,000 from his bosses by signing cheques to himself and inflating his salary with unauthorised bonuses has been jailed for 18 months.

Gurmukh Shehri, 33, from Woolwich, was convicted of six counts of fraud by abuse of position after an investigation by the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED), part of the City of London Police.

He was sentenced on Friday 19 August to 18 months in custody at the Old Bailey.
