Surge in claims after Storm Desmond
Local brokers expect number of claims to rise further when people are able to return to their properties.
Duncan Macbeth, founding director of Kendal-based Macbeth Scott & Co said the town had experienced the worst floods in 50 years following Storm Desmond.
"There's been extensive damage to both commercial and private properties," he told Insurance Age. "We've dealt with about 80 commercial claims and about 100 domestic claims, which will amount to a reserve of about £3m, and that's just for us."
According to Macbeth, LV has sent one of their employees to their office to help out and in his view
