Brokers respond to Storm Desmond

Brokers broadly positive on insurer claims service although issues remain.

Brokers in, or with policyholders in, Cumbria have reported being inundated with claims in the wake of Storm Desmond.

But they have varied in their assessment of how responsive and helpful insurers have been in dealing with the claims.

Mark Whiteman, a director at Reid Hamilton based in Lancaster, said the River Lune burst its banks and has caused significant damage in the city.

"It's affected a lot of businesses in the area and domestic households as well," he pointed out.
