AM Best says M&A activity will continue

Company points to mergers between insurers having an effect on the broker market.

The recent uptick in mergers and acquisition activity in the insurance market is set to continue according to a briefing by AM Best.

The company said that the deals between XL and Catlin as well as Tokio Marine and HCC and the transaction involving Ace and Chubb has affected the broker landscape because they resulted in fewer premiums ceded to the traditional reinsurance market.
