Markel International has reported a combined ratio of 97% for the for the first nine months of 2014 which is the same as last year.

However the company said the combined ratio was 97% for the third quarter this year compared to 96% for the same period in 2013.

Markel's diluted net income per share was $14.21 (£8.91) for the nine months to the end of September 2014, down from $15.33 last year.
