Zurich detects record £109.3m of fraudulent claims
Zurich uncovered a record £109.3 million of fraudulent insurance claims in the last 12 months, across 4,359 bogus claims in its casualty, motor and property portfolios.
The number means a scam claim was exposed every two hours.
The results, for September 2025 to 30 September 2026, showed Zurich detected £61.6m of casualty fraud across 2,380 claims, £28.1m of motor fraud across 1,027 claims, and £19.6m of property fraud across 951 claims.
Criminal networks are constantly adapting their tactics, whether that’s staged accidents, ghost broking, fabricated claims or the use of AI-generated evidence.Scott Clayton, Zurich UK
