PPI complaints fall 50% on last year


Figures from the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) have revealed that the majority of complaints from consumers continue to be about payment protection insurance (PPI).

In its quarterly complaints report, The FOS revealed it received over 157,000 complaints from consumers about financial products between July and September this year, and that 88,803 cases were opened for investigation.

PPI was the subject of two thirds of the total number of complaints, with 70,512 new cases opened, which is
