RSA takeover rumours boost share price
Speculation linking RSA with a takeover bid has boosted the insurer’s share price by 3.1p to £1.27 at the close of business on the London Stock Exchange yesterday.
According to numerous press reports, the provider was at the centre of speculation of receiving a bid valuing the company at up to £7bn.
Insurers linked with the speculation included Aviva, Allianz, Generali and Zurich.
However yesterday Italy-based Generali told news agency Reuters that it "denied" rumours of any potential bid for RSA.
A spokesperson for RSA told Insurance Age: "We never comment on market speculation."
A Zurich spokesperson also said that the insurer doesn't comment on "market
