Essex and London top car crime insurance list

Motorists in Essex and London areas of the UK are the most likely to make a claim on their car insurance for crime, according to analysis by MoneySupermarket.

The aggregator listed Ilford in the top spot overall followed by Romford as the areas where people were most likely to have made a claim for theft of vehicle, vandalism to their car or theft of contents from their car.

However, at the other end of the scale, motorists in the Scottish city of Perth, along with Shrewsbury and Carlisle were among those least likely to have made a claim.

The research revealed the most common claim type was theft of vehicle making up over half of all claims (52%)
