APPG calls for more guidance on EU gender ban

Concerns over the implementation of the gender ban in insurance pricing have been raised by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Insurance and Financial Services at a recent meeting.

Jonathon Evans MP, chairman of the APPG, commented that the Test Achat case, brought to the European Court of Justice, had “nothing to do with motor insurance”.

Instead that case dealt with life insurance, which Mr Evans said has led to gaps in the guidance surrounding motor pricing.

Mike Brockman, CEO of Insure the Box, agreed with this and said: “There’s a lot of confusion around renewals.”
