i-Digital and Jubilee claim industry first for download cover

Underwriting agency i-Digital Insurance and Lloyd’s insurer Jubilee have released a new policy to cover downloaded content held on computers, smartphones, mobiles devices and any other form of electronic equipment.

Both parties claimed the new product, which provides protection against the irretrievable loss of digital downloads resulting from fire, theft, accidental damage and breakdown of the electronic equipment on which the media is stored, was an industry first.

It will be available to brokers to be sold either as an ‘add on' to a home contents, mobile or gadget cover, or on a standalone basis.

According to the pair, an estimated £1.3bn has been spent on downloads in the UK with i-Digital's own
