OFT finds lack of competition in private healthcare market

The decision follows the publication of the OFT's market study which it said provisionally found a number of features that prevented, restricted or distorted competition in the £5bn UK private healthcare market.

The OFT highlighted that there was a lack of easily comparable information available to patients, GPs or health insurance providers on the quality and costs of private healthcare services.

It stated this may mean that competition between private healthcare providers and between consultants
