Aviva claims UK rise makes it market leader

Aviva claimed UK general insurance sales increased 12% over the first nine months of the year making it “the general insurance market leader in the UK”.

It reported UK general insurance and health net written premiums up 10% to £3,754m for the nine months (2010: £3,412m). It reported overall general insurance and health net written premiums of £7.0bn, up 9%.

Aviva said UK general insurance sales were up 12%, with 318,000 new personal motor customers this year, making more than two million in total.

The group combined operating ratio improved one point to 96%. The UK saw a one point improvement to 95%. North America saw a two point improvement
