adviser

Global health insurer Cigna has agreed to buy FirstAssist Insurance Services from Barclays Private Equity.

According to Cigna, travel in European and Asian markets grew by an average of 8% in 2010 and the company sees this acquisition as an opportunity to expand its global travel products business.

FirstAssist has nearly three million policy holders in the UK and specialises in providing travel, health, employment and legal-related insurance.

According to Cigna, the deal will combine these services with its global medical network and broad range of supplemental health, life and accident products.
