Markel's insurance arm gets thumbs up from AM Best
A.M. Best has upgraded the issuer credit rating of Markel International Insurance Company (MIIC)
Markel International's London-based insurance company's issuer credit rating has been upgraded from ‘a' to ‘a+'.
A. M. Best also confirmed the ‘A' financial strength rating, outlook stable, of MIICL and Markel Syndicate 3000, Markel International's Lloyd's syndicate.
A.M. Best said the rating upgrade reflected MIIC's excellent stand-alone risk-adjusted capitalisation, which is expected to be maintained in 2010 and 2011, as well as the company's recent record of good underwriting performance
