Admiral denies watchdog's race discrimination allegations

The insurance industry has come under the microscope following allegations that Admiral breached race discrimination laws.

Consumer watchdog Which questioned 16 insurers to discover whether premium quotes were affected by a customer's place of birth.

It claimed that Admiral charged customers born outside the UK more than those who had lived in the country since birth, with quotes differing by 18% on average.

The watchdog said it believed the insurer was not alone in this practice and that it would continue its investigation and liaise with Equality and Human Rights Commission.

In agreement, a market source told
