AIG rebrand on the map

AIG is to rebrand its domestic general insurance operation to Chartis UK following 12 turbulent months in which it was bailed out with a multi-billion dollar rescue package from the US government.

All the insurer's global property and casualty business will become part of Chartis, including commercial insurance, foreign general insurance and private client group operations. It will have a statutory surplus of $32.1bn (£19.6bn) worldwide by the end of the year, the company claimed.
