Research from Royal & Sun Alliance has revealed that 42% of UK businesses are oblivious to the fines they may face by failing to comply with the no-smoking ban. Awareness of implications of the ban was lowest in the east of England, while businesses in the Midlands were most aware of the cost of non-compliance. The study also showed that smaller businesses - with one to five members of staff - are the most vulnerable, with almost half unaware of the financial repercussions.
