MPPI still viable says Assurant

Assurant Solutions Intermediary has cautioned brokers not to give up on mortgage payment protection insurance (MPPI) despite recent news of product withdrawals.

Kevin Paterson, sales and marketing director, said: "With all the recent news around payment protection insurance, the broking community could be forgiven for thinking this type of cover is disappearing rapidly. In light of the outcomes of the Competition Commission inquiry and the deteriorating economy, it is highly likely that we're going to see more news about MPPI over the coming months."

Mr Paterson advises that all MPPI providers are keeping a close eye on claims experience and insurers
