In a new wave of consolidation, what will happen to the small independent broker?

An ongoing theme at Insurance Age is mergers and acquisitions in the broking world. Indeed it seems that every broker I speak to is looking for the right opportunity to buy.

In recent weeks we have seen PIB buy Franklands Insurance & Risk Management, while Higos has purchased Colin Fear Insurance Services and GRP-backed Green Insurance bought Collidge & Partners. Global Risk Partners has also set out its intention to set up regional hubs and Broker Network is also acquiring.
