GDP rises 0.8% in Q3
The UK’s gross domestic product increased by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2010, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics.
The growth in the economy between July and September is lower than the 1.2% increase in the second quarter of the year but at the top end of economist's expectations.
In a statement the ONS said: "Allowing for the recovery in Q2 following the bad weather at the start of the year, the underlying growth in Q3 is broadly similar to that in Q2."
It added that output in the service industries increased 0.6% while the production industries and construction sectors saw rises of 0.6% and 4.0%
