Lloyd's iPad trial

Lloyd's announced it has joined with Marsh, Cooper Gay and RK Harrison Group to trial the use of Apple iPads in its underwriting room. The trial involves the tablet computers being used as an alternative to traditional underwriting slips and is expected to last three months, with the opportunity for other brokers to join. The insurer also announced a 50% drop in profits to £628m for the first six months of the year, with chairman Lord Levene describing the period as "the costliest on record
