The International Insurance Society's 2004 survey has found the most pressing issue among insurance executives is taking advantage of new market opportunities. The annual survey included over 200 respondents globally.

Joint second on the list was managing risk, followed by retaining and building organisational talent. Maintaining competitive pricing and productivity, efficiency and expense controls were third and fourth place, respectively, while recovery from adverse conditions ranked fifth.
