Q: My business is currently experiencing many problems, to the extent
that I am considering selling it. I have many loyal, long-serving members
of staff and wonder what will happen to them if I sell the business?


A: The Department of Trade and Industry has recently announced proposed
changes to the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment)
Regulations 1981 (TUPE) in an effort to improve employees' rights when the
business in which they work changes hands between employers.
