The Financial Services Authority has refused to allow an authorisation extension to the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors after losing their appeal for a Treasury exemption from FSA Regulation.
RICS is now advising its members to apply for authorisation but will continue its campaign for exemption for its members and is seeking to self-regulate. It expects its appeal to the Treasury to take at least two years before a decision is reached.
