Shipping insurance mutual UK Club is warning cargo ships to reassess the way they carry of refrigerated goods, distributing risk management advice to all its UK members.UK Club found that refrigerated cargo ships (reefers) accounted for 193 major claims, US $64m, for the decade 1987 - 1996. This was 5% by number and 4% by value of all the club's major claims. Reefers maintained a steady rate of 15-25 large claims per year.
