Smart moves.
The Harrogate-based broker Smart and Cook has experienced regular growth since it began, 30 years ago. Shona Cronin spoke to Paul Meehan about the strategies the broker has used to keep ahead of the pack.
Paul Meehan is in an enviable position, he is managing director of abroker which has consistently managed to weather the storm of low rates
and intense competition. Harrogate-based broker Smart and Cook has enjoyed
a growth of 20% in its gross premium income since January 1997, during a
period when others are struggling to stay afloat.
One of the things which has kept Smart and Cook on top is its membership
of the Broker Alliance. This informal alliance of five Yorkshire brokers -
