Gibraltar-based motor specialist Markerstudy has acquired Birmingham-based broker The Insurance Factory. The family-run business, founded by Colin Gregg in 1974, incorporates The Insurance Shop and Wessex Finance. Markerstudy group chief executive Kevin Spencer said: "Colin and his daughter, Sara, will continue to run the Birmingham office. When he decided that it was time to consider an exit, we provided an opportunity for him to ensure staff security."
