Q: I am thinking of selling my business, and in view of theChancellors pre-Budget Statement in November, I am wondering whether I
should defer the sale until after 6 April 2000.
A: In his pre-Budget Statement in November, the Chancellor, indicated that
he would bring forward measures in his March 2000 Budget to ensure that
maximum Taper Relief is achieved for business assets after only a
five-year period. At the present time, Taper Relief is given pro-rata over
a 10-year period to effectively
