In the wake of the European Union's draft environmental crime directive, Aon is urging businesses to ensure they have the appropriate systems in place to manage their potential environmental exposures. The directive could see companies facing fines of up to £1m, and directors may face up to 10 years in jail for environmental breaches. Offences will include the emission of hazardous substances and the illegal discharge, transport or storage of waste resulting in substantial damage to air, soil
