The government's decision to exclude travel insurance sold by tour
operators and travel agents from Financial Services Authority regulation
will be reviewed in 2007. In the Treasury's recent consultation paper,
Paul Boateng, chief secretary to the Treasury, said: "Any benefits of
regulation would be substantially outweighed by the costs of
implementation." Mike Williams, chief executive at the British Insurance
Brokers' Association, said: "Travel agents are not qualified to sell
general insurance -
