Reinsurance broker Benfield has predicted that insurance losses arising from the Asian earthquake at the end of March will be minimal. It issued a statement on the disaster, which said: "It is too early to estimate the magnitude of insured losses but areas such as the Simeulue and Nias islands have minimal insurance coverage."
