The European Commission is promising tough action against EU Member States that have not implemented the Insurance Mediation Directive and is appealing to businesses affected to submit complaints.

The Internal Market Directorate wrote in October to 10 countries that had not incorporated the directive into national law (Professional Broking, November 2005, p5). Italy has since complied and the Netherlands is set for January, leaving eight - Belgium, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Luxembourg
