The Confederation of British Industry's quarterly Financial Services report, carried out in conjunction with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, revealed increased business volumes and incomes for brokers in the second quarter of 2004.

Brokers reported the fist significant rise in business volumes for two and a half years, with further growth expected. However, increased costs and only modest rises in premiums are expected to continue to eat into profits during the coming months.
