Tony Boorman has been appointed as the new Insurance Ombudsman by the
Financial Services Ombudsman Scheme.


Mr Boorman, who will take up the position on 1 March 2000, will also
assume the post of principal ombudsman, insurance at the FSOS. Laurie
Slade, who is acting Insurance Ombudsman, will continue in the role until
March.


Mr Boorman is currently deputy director general of the Office of Gas and
Electricity Markets. He said: "It is the first of the financial services
