UK poultry farmers could lose up to £30m if the latest outbreak of avian flu spreads across the country, according to Aon. EU regulations affecting government compensation limit the funds reimbursed to the price of each bird's market value on the day before slaughter. Steve Hibbert, broking manager at Aon, said many farmers were unaware that policies can cover income lost as a result of an outbreak on farms.
