Generali is still in negotiations with underwriters regarding the
disposal of its remaining property and casualty business in its
Birmingham office, following its decision to pull out of the UK retail
business.


Last month, the insurer sold renewal rights to parts of the portfolio to
Chiyoda (Europe) and Maritime Insurance Company, which represented the
majority of the UK retail business. Generali said that the sale of the
business would lead to redundancies.


The disposal of the remaining UK retail
