The Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has called for the compensation culture to be replaced with a 'common sense culture'.

Blair, who was speaking to the Institute for Public Policy Research in London in May, said: "Something is seriously awry when teachers feel unable to take children on school trips, for fear of being sued." He continued: "The Financial Services Authority, which was established to provide clear guidelines and rules for the financial services sector and to protect the consumer
