Trade and Industry Secretary Patricia Hewitt has granted a
three-month extension to the Competition Commission to complete its report
on extended warranties for domestic electrical goods. The extra time will
allow the Commission to consult fully with interested parties on the
statement of hypothetical remedies that was published on 20 May. The
period for reporting on the monopoly reference has been extended from 1
July to 30 September 2003.
