The telecommunications regulator Ofcom has extended the deadline for telecom providers to reduce the charges they levy on 0870 telephone numbers until late spring 2008 after they expressed concerns over meeting the 31 January deadline. Under the new rules, calls to 0870 numbers must include a warning if they cost more than 01 or 02 numbers. Insurance intermediaries will also lose out on revenue sharing schemes on these numbers.
